Japanese Style Stitch PackJapanese Style Stitch Pack
Our price: £10.00

Behold, a big bold print of the Japanese hemp leaf pattern in traditional cream and dark blue!

It eagerly awaits your stitches...

Fill the segments with your work, perhaps in appropriate sashiko patterns or with a variety of straight stitch arrangements as I have done.

You might choose to stitch the plain and patterned fabrics together, with or without wadding, and quilt the design or work on the patterned fabric first and use the plain as a lining. Perhaps you’ll make a furoshiki wrapping cloth or a cushion cover, or frame the finished piece. I think I will either use mine as a panel in a garment, or as the front of a tote bag.

There are, as ever, no rules, just a few suggestions and examples to get you started.

The pack contains:

printed cotton fabric as shown, approx 47 x 47cm square

a similar sized plain cotton, either hand dyed navy blue or a chambray piece

two skeins of embroidery thread and a needle

printed image of a straight stitch sampler to inspire your creativity and images of my own worked designs

🌿Tiny jug of tiny flowers (and marjoram for leafiness).
Partnered with two perfect greenfinch feathers found on the garden path.
Very little else was left - a sparrow hawk’s dinner, alas.

🧶my comfort zone knitting!

I used a lush combination of @bordermillshop pure alpaca sportweight and a pleasing gradient of @wee_county_yarns 10gm balls for a dead simple sea-inspired cowl.
Washed and lightly roasted in the summer sun, ready for winter days.
Obviously will have to wear these earrings at such times😉

How very fortunate I am to live in this corner of the world

A wee Sunday windowsill with all the shades from my unkempt garden.
I know they won’t live long indoors but they make me happy🤗
