Hand block printed and/or hand dyed cotton fabrics from Sanganer and Bagru in Rajasthan

Sanganer is a major centre of traditional block printing, using chemical dyes.

The block printers I visited in Bagru use natural dyes. They have maybe seven indigo vats on the go!

I am offering most of these as 2.5 metre lengths so that you have enough to make a garment, be it a top, simple dress or lightweight trousers. Of course you may have other plans - tablecloth, napkins, quilt backing, pillowcases... I’d love to see what you do with your chosen pieces!

The pink ruler in each image is 15cm/6” long, to help you judge the size of the patterns.

All fabrics are a minimum of 110cm wide. Most of the cottons are lightweight (L).

I have washed and pressed every length but still recommend another gentle machine wash before use.

C - From Sanganer, a deceptively simple red check on white ground (L) 2.5 metres

F - From Bagru, a natural dyed medallion design (L) 2.5 metres

G - From Bagru, a complex multi-block print (Willam Morris - Indian style!) (L) 2.6 metres

H - From Bagru, an Ajrakh design in madder, black and indigo (L) 2.5 metres

J - From Bagru, an Ajrakh design in madder, black and light indigo (L) 2.5 metres

K - From Bagru, a bold contemporary flower design in indigo (L) 2.5 metres

N - From Bagru, a natural dyed indigo and black design (L) 2.5 metres

P - From Bagru, a busy wave and flower design in natural indigo and madder (L) 2.3 metres

Q - From Jaipur, a rich raspberry hand woven khadi cotton (VL) 2 metres

Never met a stripe I didn’t like…
Ok, that’s not entirely true but I’m very happily knitting them in grey and charcoal this holiday time🤗
🐾🌷
Enjoying a gentle afternoon in front of the fire with a book in my hand and a dog at my feet.
This is what I have been waiting for….🙏🏻
Also loving the architectural elegance of my gift-to-self £5 bunch of Lidl tulips on the windowsill.

Sending you comfort and joy from our tiny corner of the world ❤️🐾
Happy post day!
My new @thosejoestoes slippers kit in jolly festive red has just arrived
Not too taxing - may be able to stitch them and drink a cheeky port at the same time…what could possibly go wrong?🤔
🌞🐾
A gentle morning walk with Bruce as the sun rose on the second shortest day of the year. Blissful!

Just ordered quilt wadding and bendy safety pins…
The assembling/binding of this small ‘quilt of many winters’ is imminent -ish

I first posted pics of my pretty gifted flowers on 5th November.
Yesterday was shed-all-the-petals day - such beauty in decay.

Looking forward to spending many contented hours here this winter.
Books, knitting, stitching, too much coffee, a big black dog frequently blocking the heat.
