The Border Tart
I'm Lindsay Roberts. Colour, texture and pattern are a source of endless fascination and exploring them in textile and paper form is what I enjoy most.

I studied Textile Design in the Scottish Borders, then learned to spin and incorporated my yarns in woven home furnishings for some years.

Some years ago I enjoyed a funded residency in India, returning home to explore indigo dyeing and block printing and simple kantha stitching.
This led me to investigate Islamic geometric design which I can't get enough of.

I have a return trip booked to Gujarat in 2020...

Purless shawl knitted by Sheena in Blue Moon yarn

I dye yarn and fibre with indigo. You can read more about indigo here.
I produce a range of natural fibre yarns to knit, crochet or weave with. They incorporate British wools, merino, linen, silk, alpaca and yak.  I love to search out interesting buttons and fabrics to offer you too.

With my talented knit and crochet designer friend Sarah Hazell, I run stitching retreats.

finding time retreats enable you to immerse yourself in gentle creativity for a few days. 2018 retreats had Scandi and India themes. The April 2019 one focuses on Japanese stitching.     Learn more here.
