Four different collections of soft smooth plied thread which works well on cotton and linen, and beautifully on wool. I have dyed these sets to offer you lots of variation. As well as three acid-dyed sets there is a gradient set of indigo threads to enjoy. The slight shade variations in these provide further interest in your stitching.

Brights - summer at the seaside!

Old Rose - soft dusky pinks and a gentle grey

Marine - two blues and two close sea greens, ideal for subtle shading

The blend of Blue Faced Leicester wool and silk offers the best of all worlds. Good coverage and a soft sheen to your stitches.

Length: 24 metres each skein (96 in total)

Content: 55% BFL 45% Silk

Thickness: plied thread - about equivalent to using three out of the six plies of a standard embroidery floss

wool silk thread*****Posted by Maura T on April 9 2024 at 22:47I got a skein of this thread in one of my subscription boxes and had to get some more , it had a lovely feel to it . It slid nicely through the cloth I was embroidering . it had a lovely sheen and I found it didnt snag . The subtle variegation means that you dont have to keep changing thread when you want a nice gradation ie in flower petals or stalks and leaves. I used it to stitch strips of sari ribbon onto a loosely woven calico to make an imaginative landscape type picture. It will eventually become a little drawstring pouch.

Breakfasted and now hanging out with friends. The full complement - pheasant, duck, squizzel, carrot and frog.
Life lesson: be more Bruce

I did finish my simple cowl where I let the yarns do all the talking. Delicious dyeing by @casserlyalison and wool/silk hand spinning by OB at @handspinnerskye . Yarns held together to produce this rich blend of highland landscape (in my eyes) shades.

Bottom right is a more accurate representation than top right pic.

A restful image of my new acquisition from @sutherlandceramics with delicate fading irises.
If you find yourself at Traquair House be sure to visit the makers in their bothies, just down from the tearoom. Rob’s ceramics are understated and hand built, not thrown.

Delighted to be vending in the 1912 Mill at Sunny Bank Mills tomorrow! A quality line up of makers and so much else to visit and view within the mill complex. A warm and welcoming atmosphere awaits you and, most importantly, good coffee🤗
🪡Deep concentration during a gentle stitching workshop this morning at Abbotsford House with my merry band of travellers.
Couldn’t ask for a better setting than the Scottish Borders in which to relax and soak up new textile experiences.

A wee cast-on ready for the simplest ever cowl knitting. The yarns, held together, will do all the talking.
One’s a lovely rich 4ply skein dyed by @casserlyalison and t’other is heavy laceweight hand spun wool and silk by spinner ‘OB’ which I bought at @handspinnerskye last year.
And the bag? A joyful hand stitched make by @bizzilizzikelso - just the right size for this project🤗

A board full of samples and descriptions so that you know what’s packed in each kit. Well, some of them - I don’t have space for them all😁
