Glorious rich kantha silk shawl

Not just a, Indian silk shawl, this is a piece of art.

The centre field is a rich blue with a repeating red wave design. There is a narrow border on the long sides in equally strong green with a maroon repeat and at each end there is a deep section in the same colours.

EVERY SINGLE MOTIF is carefully outlined in white kantha stitch. The volume of work in this one generously sized piece is quite remarkable.

Wear it, hang it on the wall, drape it over a sofa back, make a generous shift dress or long skirt. It deserves to be seen and enjoyed.

The shawl measures 226cm long x 86cm wide. The end sections in green are approx 46cm deep.

There are small ‘imperfections’ - of course there are. It is made entirely by hand from weaving the silk to dyeing it, block printing it, stitching it. Embrace those marks that celebrate the work of such textile artisans.
