Originally I created the design as a sampler for my Simple Stitches guide. I have made up this kit so you too can enjoy working these stitches to create a quiet seascape.

It includes all you need to make the design, including needle and pins to help transfer the circle design to the linen. Preparing the fabric in the hoop and transferring the design to the fabric ready to stitch are fully described. The Simple Stitches guide card shows how to form each of the stitches.

There are three different threads included - vintage crochet cotton (a creamy shade rather than the white in the worked example above), hand dyed turquoise blue silk and naturally hand dyed cotton perle.

The kit contains:

A 30cm square of dark blue linen

Six metres of cream thread and three metres each of two contrast shades

A needle and pins

Tissue pattern

Printed Simple Stitches guide

I am trying out DMC Eco Vita wool threads on a piece of dyed blanket. No rules, just experimenting. I like the soft colour palette of these naturally dyed organic crewel wools which I found at @mybearpaw a couple of weeks ago. I succumbed to lovely Japanese fabrics there too🤗

I don’t dye yarn no more, but I do dye thread…
These ones coming soon to the Tart’s emporium

A very happy sunny Edinburgh day - lots of quick chats and warm hugs with so many friends old and new at the inaugural Woolly Good Gathering at Summerhall.
🧶
A triumph for the organisers, it was a welcoming inclusive event with space to breathe and so much beautiful yarn and fibre.
🧶
Later a lovely catch up with a dear friend who embraces life to the full in her ninth decade - a role model of the best kind.

A wee look back at my first visit to Jess’s lovely new premises with some of our happy yarn-loving travellers earlier this month. It’s a treasure trove!

A quiet day or two of tidying, catching up and stitching. New samples finished and a seed stitch on eco print piece finally done too. It’s been one of my portable projects for a long time - - -

Couldn’t resist these madder dyed skeins at @isleofskyenaturaldyeco last week.

The indigo over dyeing has produced such a pleasing slate shade.
I even know what I am going to knit with them - just not when🤭
Loch Linnhe looking peaceful this morning. We’re heading south now, back to Edinburgh via a last yarn stop…

Essential staff team-of-two meeting slotted in to this morning’s schedule…
