Stitchers’ Treasures

Welcome to the Border Tart’s 2024 subscription boxes

Many of you will know how much I enjoy seeking out fabrics from faraway places and supporting other makers. And you’ll be aware I can’t resist a blue...

For lovers of interesting cloth and hand dyed threads I am offering little boxes through your letterbox every other month in 2024.

Of course there is an blues and indigos box, but there’s a rich spicy shades one too. I aim to bring you inspiring content, and an opportunity to experiment with textiles you may not otherwise have found.

Colour themes and contents

Moody Blues - expect some peacock shades as well as indigos and blues

Spice Box - expect terracotta, ginger, earthy and spicy, plus the occasional red

You will receive a carefully selected fabric piece, nominally 50cm x 50cm from somewhere in the world, and a skein of hand dyed or specialist thread. Dyers may be from anywhere, may even be me. Fabrics will be a mix of patterns and solids. The letterbox-friendly box will also contain a little vintage fabric, or buttons, or contrasting thread or other treat.

Handwoven fabrics can vary dramatically in width. I will always try to compensate for narrow width by sending a longer length. Many fabrics show minor colour/print variation, or slubs or other perceived errors. I encourage you to embrace these as evidence of the maker's hand.

How it works

You choose your colour theme.

And choose either 6 months (3 boxes) or a year (6 boxes).

Be sure to select the correct delivery destination - either UK or Rest of World.

Boxes are despatched at the start of every second month, commencing in February 2024.

Boxes for any given month/colour choice are similar but not necessarily identical in content.

The images shown in this listing are mock-ups only.

A wee cast-on ready for the simplest ever cowl knitting. The yarns, held together, will do all the talking.
One’s a lovely rich 4ply skein dyed by @casserlyalison and t’other is heavy laceweight hand spun wool and silk by spinner ‘OB’ which I bought at @handspinnerskye last year.
And the bag? A joyful hand stitched make by @bizzilizzikelso - just the right size for this project🤗
