Monkey & Sofia Knitting Book is both a story of one woman's route through life, using knitting as her measuring stick and a delightful collection of tried and tested patterns for small projects. These are mainly made with yarn scraps - a blanket, cushion, hat, socks etc, plus several animal toys as well as patterns to make simple clothes for them.

It was written by Maureen Rooksby, a talented maker and lovely friend to the Border Tart.

It would make a good book for a young person setting out on knitting though equally it is fun for big kids too!

Size: 210mm x 150mm approx - 34 pages - soft covers

A very happy sunny Edinburgh day - lots of quick chats and warm hugs with so many friends old and new at the inaugural Woolly Good Gathering at Summerhall.
🧶
A triumph for the organisers, it was a welcoming inclusive event with space to breathe and so much beautiful yarn and fibre.
🧶
Later a lovely catch up with a dear friend who embraces life to the full in her ninth decade - a role model of the best kind.

A wee look back at my first visit to Jess’s lovely new premises with some of our happy yarn-loving travellers earlier this month. It’s a treasure trove!
Finished! - - -
A quiet day or two of tidying, catching up and stitching. New samples finished and a seed stitch on eco print piece finally done too. It’s been one of my portable projects for a long time - - -

Couldn’t resist these madder dyed skeins at @isleofskyenaturaldyeco last week.

The indigo over dyeing has produced such a pleasing slate shade.
I even know what I am going to knit with them - just not when🤭
Loch Linnhe looking peaceful this morning. We’re heading south now, back to Edinburgh via a last yarn stop…
🌼☕️
Essential staff team-of-two meeting slotted in to this morning’s schedule…
Hiding in plain sight?
Edinburgh Castle from Princes St Gardens on this gentle morning.
Looking forward to a group lunch and presentation by Susan @thejournalofscottishyarns at @24royalterrace
Arrived in Edinburgh. First stop - caffeine. The sweet morsel was on the house, honest!
