Handwoven Stole Pack
I was delighted to source these handwoven fringed cotton stoles from Karnataka in southern India. They are just asking to be embellished with a stitch or two. The texture of the fine cotton warp yarn shows up so well in the main section when crossed with the indigo dyed weft and it is a joy to stitch into.
In this pack there is a 25 metre skein of wool/silk blend thread that I have dip dyed in indigo, 12 metres of coloured embroidery threads, a needle and a little gentle guidance. There’s a simple stitch guide too but how you choose to embellish is entirely up to you. I simply added kantha stitches to the white end sections of the one you see here.
The stole is a generous size - 150cm long and 68cm wide. It will soften with use. It can be worn in multiple ways but also makes a fine table runner or hammam towel and could be sewn into a short sleeved summer top. Whatever you choose to do, I hope you take your time and enjoy the gentle process
