I'm encouraging you to share the calm and beauty of natural indigo today, with a collection ranging from traditional boro to contemporary weave and block print.
If you are on IG do seek out some of these feeds for a blue fix (the first link for each maker will take you to their Instagram feed). And if that particular social medium is not for you, I have linked to websites where possible.
I've started with an amazing new rug by Sufiyan Khatri in Kutch, Gujarat. Contemporary and striking.

BleuAnglais is Noel Chapman's constantly evolving selection of covetable antique and vintage indigo textiles, often from China. He sells at many fairs which are, perhaps fortunately, too far south in the UK for me to get to...
Lori Seidemann is a Chicago-based weaver and plant dyer. Her posts are full of soft subtle dyed shades, including indigos, in yarn skeins and also woven into graded block patterns. Her website is here, with plant dye journal close-ups and a glorious gallery of past projects.
Yuya Kobayashi founded Rifatto Handmade - he deconstructs old clothes to make unique handstitched pieces. Not just jackets and not just indigo - his feed is full of wild inspiration!

Momiyamatakao - A Japanese textile artist (among other skills) who lives in Sweden. He mends with artistic expression and as you can see, he works on some very large pieces! His website is here
Morriseyfabric - Chinese, Guatamalan, African and more - ethically sourced vintage textiles in this Californian online shop. Another treat for the eyes with blues of all hues to lose yourself in. Website here
I have a soft spot for Vintagecustoman where Mitsugu Sasaki hand-patches old clothes and breathes new life into utlitarian clothes. He has a shop full of such pieces.
Borro_co is all sashiko mending and embellishment. As they say - Repair Don't Replace
There are, of course, lots more talented contemporary dyers, weavers, stitchers, many much closer to my home than these. I'll gather some of them into a post another day. Meanwhile do browse a couple of these sites and soak up those shades.
