The Mender's Friend!

We are all making do and mending (visibly and invisibly), and there are lots of online tutorials and excellent books available. Now all your mending essentials are here in one neat tin.

Never search for a suitable needle and thread or spare piece of fabric again. Everything is to hand and you can of course add your own threads and fabrics and those spare buttons often attached to new clothes. You know, those ones you put in a safe place...

The Mender's Friend tin measures 9.5cm x 6cm x 2cm high and comes complete with

  • a selection of 9 different fabrics from heavy waxed cotton to denim, tweed, sturdy linen plain and patterned, and cottons plain and patterned too
  • 4 needles including a serious steel one 9cm long, two smaller sized sharps and a good blunt needle for darning woollies
  • 5 different threads from strong linens and a heavy cotton to finer qualities and a natural wool for darning
  • essential buttons and safety pins for good measure

I am trying out DMC Eco Vita wool threads on a piece of dyed blanket. No rules, just experimenting. I like the soft colour palette of these naturally dyed organic crewel wools which I found at @mybearpaw a couple of weeks ago. I succumbed to lovely Japanese fabrics there too🤗
🩷💚💙💜
I don’t dye yarn no more, but I do dye thread…
These ones coming soon to the Tart’s emporium
😘
A very happy sunny Edinburgh day - lots of quick chats and warm hugs with so many friends old and new at the inaugural Woolly Good Gathering at Summerhall.
🧶
A triumph for the organisers, it was a welcoming inclusive event with space to breathe and so much beautiful yarn and fibre.
🧶
Later a lovely catch up with a dear friend who embraces life to the full in her ninth decade - a role model of the best kind.
